Innovation and technology management: technology roadmap

Abstract

The rapid pace of science and techno-logy growth and globalization has increa-sed the complexity of their management. Technology  roadmap  is  employed  as  a decision  tool  to  improve  coordination of activities and resources in increasingly complex   and   uncertain   environments. Technology  roadmapping  is  a  needs-dri-ven technology planning process to help identify,  select,  and  develop  alternatives to satisfy a set of products requirements. The approach provides a structured me-ans for exploring and communicating the relationships  between  markets,  products and  technologies  over  time.  This  work concludes    that    technology    roadmap should  be  implemented  by  the  science and  technology  system  of  the  Brazilian Army, in order to support the efforts for strategic,  medium,  and  long  range  tech-nology planning. Because of the time and effort  involved  in  roadmapping,  there must be committed leadership and spon-sorship over time.
