The Brazil's international insertion and new challenges to national defense policy

Abstract
Supporting by ideas discussed during the VII National Meeting of Strategic Studies, occurred in November 2007, in Brasilia, this article presents issues related to the Brazilian National Defense Policy,as part of the international insertion of Brazil. At that meeting, the intransigent defence of nationalinterests was seen as a key aspect for an active, mature and autonomous posture in face of hegemoniccenters of power - political position which the country can not discard, because its recognized strategiccapability. During the referred meeting has also been confirmed the wisdom of the presence of thestrategic event called international reactions to the brazilian leadership in EB 2022 Prospective Scenarios.
