The constitution of combined peace forces by south American nations: a commitment to ieace and international security

Abstract
The commitment to international peace and security is an attitude demonstrated by most of the countries. In South American scenario, nations have generally sought to address the United Nations (UN) demands for peacekeeping missions. Following a recent trend there is a consistent reality concerning the establishment of Combined Peacekeeping Forces in that subcontinent nowadays. UN has requested the countries to prepare and train their troops to be deployed in peacekeeping operations, according to the organization’s policies. One of the directives is exactly the United Nations Stand-by Arrangements System (UNSAS). This research stresses that the establishment of Combined Peacekeeping Forces is already a full reality in the mentioned region, which reveals greater involvement with international peace and contributes to the fulfillment of the UN requirements with regard to rapid deployment, as well as collaborates with the geopolitical interests of the countries.
