The name Schola, derived from the Latin word for school, represents not only a physical space but also a social environment dedicated to teaching. It brings together teachers and students committed to fostering the development of a region or nation through education.

The journal’s emblem — its name alongside a passenger car — pays tribute to the Military School of Santa Maria, founded in 1994. During the construction of its permanent facilities, the school temporarily operated in two passenger cars donated for this purpose, which were adapted into classrooms. This symbol reflects the institution’s resilience in overcoming challenges while pursuing its greater mission: ensuring education as a fundamental right, as defined by the Federal Constitution.

It also evokes the image of a traditional means of transport, a collective vehicle that connects the present to the future through the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Rev. Cient. Schola, published in BI No. 180, September 28, 2017.
