Abstract

In this work the optical properties of the polymer polycarbonate of bisphenol A (PC) were analyzed after exposure to ultraviolet radiation for 300 h and 600 h and gamma radiation at doses of 130 kGy and 300 kGy. The results revealed that there is a change in the level of transparency of the polycarbonate from the macromolecular chains and oxidative degradation, which modified the optical energy band gap value in the polymer, determined from the model established in the Tauc equation, using the absorbance curves of the material exposed to ionizing radiation
