Abstract

The growing technological advancement has contributed to the dissemination of new technologies, especially in the telecommunications area. The location of the devices is already assured, with an accuracy level of approximately three meters, by the GPS (Global Position System) service, but the difference between the actual and estimated position of some systems that use only the GPS service is considered insufficient, requiring greater precision. The proposed work addresses a critical problem, specifically for geolocation and target tracking systems. The main objective is to present an outdoor location algorithm based on the received signal strength in which the system does not have prior knowledge of the location of the routers, also known as Access Points (AP's).
