Abstract

The solution blow spinning (SBS) technique is conceptually similar to electrospinning, but without the application of low currents and high voltage, however with results as satisfactory as for the production of micro and nanofibers. This study aimed to produce ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) nanofibers from the SBS technique. SEM images show nanofibers with an average diameter of 200 – 325 nm. The results obtained indicate that the working distance, injection pressure and concentration are variables that directly influence the average fiber diameter, resulting in fibers with smaller diameters for lower concentrations.
