Abstract

The ride comfort study has become increasingly important in vehicle designs. This paper optimizes the suspension and the driver´s seat to maximize the ride comfort of an all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle traveling on different velocities and on a errain with a random profile. The vehicle model is presented in this work, as well as a brief discussion of the international standards on evaluation of human exposure to whole-body
vibration (VCH). Numerical simulations of the vertical vehicle dynamics are evaluated by using a multiobjective function. The suspension system and the driver´s seat are optimized using two different stochastic methods. Accuracy, efficiency and efficacy in all cases are compared to the limits set by international standards for whole-body vibration
