Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the feasibility of using social networks in psychological operations as a factor to increase campaigns at the tactical level, in a non-war situation. Social networks are a reality in the daily lives of the Brazilian population, their use is daily and routine. On the other hand, seeking to adapt to combat in the Information Age, Psychological Operations need to be updated with the habits of its target audiences to better understand them and reach them effectively. The literature review describes the social media platforms most used by Brazilians and seeks to understand the dynamics existing in each of them. Then, it addresses psychological operations, emphasizing the planning and execution of campaigns at the tactical level. The research gathered, through a questionnaire and interviews, the experience of military specialists in psychological operations, aiming at the possibilities and limitations of the use of social media platforms at the tactical level. An experimental procedure was also carried out in order to verify the speed, reach and a possible use of these platforms. At the end of the research, the initial
results of the possibilities of using social networks by the tactical fractions. As a final product, a tactical manual chapter aimed at the use of social media platforms in psychological operations campaigns at the tactical level was proposed. This product seeks to collaborate with filling the existing doctrinal gap.
