The Study of Military Sciences and its Relationship with the Disciplines at the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN)

Abstract

This paper brings an analysis of the Military Sciences areas of knowledge and the disciplines at Agulhas Negras Military Academy. We aimed to present the applicability of the term Military Sciences and its relationship with the disciplines which are part both the Academic and the Technical-Professional undergraduate curricula through a bibliographical and documentary research on: legislation, opinions, regulations, Academic Program and other official curricular documents. The objective of this article was to identify the areas of knowledge of the Military Sciences that are studied at the Academy. As a result, it was found that most of the areas of knowledge defined by Ordinance No. 734-DECEx, August 19, 2010, are inserted in the Academic and the Technical-professional disciplines of AMAN. Although the choice of disciplines is related to the functional map, there is a strong correlation between the areas of knowledge of the Military Sciences and the education and training proposed by the Academic Division and the Corps of Cadets. Due to the fact the Military Sciences cover different areas of knowledge, the training and education of the Career Officer is broad and necessary for his/her preparation for the missions that he/she will accomplish after graduation, which is aligned with the profile of the 21st century serviceperson that by the General Staff of the Army expect.
