Abstract

Abstract: In early 1945, after the Allied forces advanced towards northwestern Italy, a widely publicized event in the memory of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) took place: the meeting of Brazilian and French forces in the city of Susa, near the border between Italy and France. The event is usually treated as a cordial meeting of two Allied troops that fought a common element, the Germans. This article aims to uncover how the mission took place in light of French intentions to occupy the city, and what role the FEB played in ensuring the territorial integrity of the region for Italy.
Keywords: Brazilian Expeditionary Force; Italian Front; French Army.
