COMO APRIMORAR A MEMORIZAÇÃO EM LÍNGUA INGLESA? OS EFEITOS DE UM SOFTWARE DE APRENDIZAGEM POR REVISÃO ESPAÇADA

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to investigate the effects that a Learning Software by Spaced Review
(SARE) causes in the learning process, through the memorization of factual contents related to
English Language classes taught at the Military Academy of Agulhas Negras (AMAN). The target
audience for this research is composed of cadets from the First Year of AMAN. To achieve this
goal, the instructions to use the SARE and the method of memorization on which it is based on
were explained in an introductory way. Then, the collected data was analyzed, which was
originated from an electronic questionnaire applied to four classes of cadets, who used the SARE
for a week. This questionnaire was composed of open and closed questions, in an effort to
achieve a qualitative approach on the examination of the acquired data. The main conclusions of
this research are: the use of this SARE improved the process of memorization of factual content
in English, as well as increased the cadets’ perception of the applicability of this technology in
other subjects.
