Didactic Proposal for English Language Teaching in the Military Context

This article proposes complementary didactic activities for the teaching of English at the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN), with an emphasis on communication in real military situations. Specifically, this work details a didactic proposal aimed at developing the discourse genre "Operational Order" (OPORD) in English, using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology. The study addresses the relevance of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and discourse genres in the military context, justifying the need to complement traditional textbooks in order to prepare cadets for global communication challenges. This qualitative and interpretive research seeks to fill gaps in military linguistic repertoire, proposing a practical and innovative solution to enhance the language proficiency of future officers.
