“The Computer Science Subject” in Basic Education from Teacher´s Practice
Main Article Content
Abstract
Several elementary schools in the country have been offering, in their curriculum, a "subject" called "information technology", suggesting the existence of specific contents. In some of these schools, Computer Science teachers are responsible for this "subject" that, however, does not find a consistent basis for curricular guidelines, which are more focused on highlighting students' use of technology in schools. Given this scenario, this article presents an exploratory research on the nature of this "subject" offered in Basic Education in private schools in the city of Rio de Janeiro (RJ). More specifically, this research included the analysis of interviews with computer teachers on their practices, using the literature on education and technology, like Selwyn, technology and curriculum. The analysis of the sample points out that "subject" is configured as a moment of the curricular organization for the development of objectives outlined in other subjects
