SAPOTI 2021 Award: the importance of reading and writing in elementary school

Abstract

Currently, much has been being discussed when it comes to how important reading and writing are in the basic education classroom, since we understand that it is through reading that students have access to a society cultural property and, it is through writing that students can organize their thoughts. Hence, it is remarked the demand for development of work focusing on students’ reading and writing in school environment. Therefore, this article aims at presenting the 2021 edition of “PrêmioSapoti” (Sapoti Award), a writing contest developed by the Fundação Osorio teachers of Brazilian Portuguese (as a mother tongue).
