The developing a security and defense thought in the brazilian academia case study of the partnership between NERINT and NEE/CMS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper seeks to offer a study of the cooperation between the Brazilian Center for Strategy and International Relations (NERINT) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and the Center for Strategic Studies of the Southern Military Command (NEE/CMS). Following an agreement signed by CMS and UFRGS, since 2016 both institutions have been promoting research and joint activities aimed at strengthening links between advanced research centers in both the Armed Forces and Brazilian academic institutions. The initial hypothesis of the paper suggests that the approximation between academic institutions and the Armed Forces, as exemplified by this case study, contributes to the discussion of a Grand Strategy for Brazil in the 21st century that can stimulate greater insertion and autonomy to the country in the international system.
